I don't know how or why this happened. Proxyman shared with us the raw, captured by someone at CLAP and encoded by Boris, so I heard the call of nature. The rest is history.
Yes, this is an actual doujin, animated on cel by a fan group Ayashigedan (rendered as "Morally Dubious Gang" in this sub) in the 90s and distributed from person to person that we subbed. Naturally, you won't find this in any database. If I'm not mistaken, this is captured on a DDD so it should look better than [Lain32](https://www.avxdown.com/view/2996634) release, but I can't be bothered to check myself. Proxyman who is privy to all the details will probably explain it better in the comments.
Somehow, this got released earlier than the [Darkwispers] Rayearth OVA sub that I was supposed to QC.

This is another piece of doujin video fanwork from the 90s that we don't really see much anymore at Comiket, thanks to the DogiMagi Imagination Scandal. It was released by the group, Ayashigedan, who are an actual Circle that released many doujins tracing back to the 90s. This animated piece is a abridged adaptation of their Rayearth series of doujins, where plot points and characters were either removed or changed to fit the small runtime of this piece. The whole video also relies on still frames and panning at times, so it seems the time or money ran out and they had to put together what they could. Though, said stills are also pulled from the doujin panels themselves, so could be a artistic choice. I do wonder if actual member of the group animated on this, or if they brought on external staff to help bring this piece to life. Either way, glad to see it preserved, decades after its first release.
